Campaign to Repeal Obamacare to Begin Immediately
President Obama's signing today of the healthcare reform bill marks the beginning of a campaign to repeal the bill, says Howard Phillips, Chairman of The Conservative Caucus (TCC).
This bill marks a giant step toward socialized medicine in America", said Phillips. "Fortunately, much of the bill will not take effect for several years, giving us time to persuade the next Congress to repeal it."
Phillips pointed out that the bill increases government spending and regulation regarding health care, and that poll after poll has demonstrated that the American people opposed passage. TCC was one of the leaders of the opposition, communicating its opposition through the internet, a weekly TV show, and direct mail.
"We almost defeated this bill in the House", said Phillips, "and we believe that we can convince a majority in the 112th Congress to vote for repeal. Phillips said that if President Obama vetoed repeal, Congress could still refuse funding for those provisions of the bill that go into effect during the next two years.
The Conservative Caucus (TCC) is a grass roots action organization, formed in 1974. It was active in defeating the SALT II Treaty, repealing the Catastrophic Coverage Act, blocking the Clinton health-care takeover, and impeaching President Clinton.
